Tourism and economic growth in the region San Martin
According to the latest survey by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru, the influx of tourists in the month of July 2011 is 31% more than the same period last year.
The booming region San Martin, is undoubtedly growing, as shown by the figures recorded by the various regional offices. These data were collected from the website of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru and contemplate the cremiento in July 2011 compared to the same period in the previous year:
- Agricultural production: an increase of 8.2 percent was recorded.
- Fish Production: Growth of 42.9 percent.
- Manufacturing non-primary production: Growth of 9.6 percent.
- Financial Services: growth of 23.8 percent.
- Electricity and Water: Growth of 17.9 percent.
- Construction: Growth of 3.1 percent
Sector growth Tourism.- According to information from the Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism of San Martin, in July 2011 53 383 tourist arrivals and 72 111 nights, up by 31.5 and 28.9 were recorded percent each, compared to the same month last year, increased flow of domestic and foreign tourists. Domestic tourism made up 52 238 visitors increased 31.2 percent and made receptive by 1145 foreigners grew 42.2 percent. In the period from January to July 2011, arrivals and overnight stays increases accumulated 20.3 and 20.7 percent, respectively, compared to the same period last year.

All these figures are another sign of the rise of our region, new business opportunities and above all a great opportunity for tourism.
The tourism entrepreneurs should take advantage of these circumstances to improve their businesses, to provide quality service with every comfort and above all invest in sustainable development. The importance of ecotourism and sustainable development in a region with the characteristics of San Martin, are crucial to ensure growth and welfare.
The authorities should ensure compliance with the rules and try to minimize the environmental impact of industries, provinces like Rioja have natural reserves such as the Alto Mayo Protected Forest source of life and especially of water, a developed region with great economic potential should care their sources of water and somehow guarantee the supply of this vital resource, especially in these times where global warming does not let humanity.
